MTF005 Adrian Niculae – Consensual EP

5 MTF005 Adrian Niculae – Consensual EP Every piece of paper has its own role in the big picture of a complex collage. Every fractal structure finds the same pattern as we continue to zoom into it. Apply these facts to the echoes and reverbs wrapped around the atmosphere that resides into distant dub references and you can catch a fair glimpse from the newest Motif release. A master in applying the laws of reductionism within his signature sound, Adrian Niculae signs yet another powerful statement under the Motif vision: Consensual...

MTF003 Adrian Niculae – Fundamental LP

3 MTF003 Adrian Niculae – Fundamental LP Less than a year ago Adrian Niculae, aka Priku, released Motif 001 which was shortly followed by his second release in early spring this year. Now things are getting serious and we have 3 discs to celebrate Motif 003 as well as Adrian’s first album. 8 tracks have been carefully selected to fulfill this mission, all carrying Adrian’s acoustic legacy forward. First disc comes on side A with ‘Re Publik,’ a one dubby monster where as a more acoustic sound is revealed on side B; Vid is quite relaxed at first but the groove is still there. The hats and the snares join to make everything fall in place. The second disc draws a more melodic line with ‘E Peste Tot’ and ‘Brother John’s’ delayed synths and subtle pads. ‘Killer funk’ gets serious on side D with Adrian showing a darker yet powerful creation. Creepy reverberations complete the distant synths and catchy groove. Last but not least, the third disc includes another three amazing tracks. ‘Do I’ is as aggressive as Adrian can be on this album, stripped minimal techno at it’s best, followed by ‘Raw Beats’, a rolling mellow dubby creation. The album ends with ‘True Story’, a long and relaxed journey, combining a perfect groove and a smooth bassline with classical elements towards the end. Limited to 500 copies, 3X12”(180gr.)...

Midi Records Romania MRR001

Club Midi is one of the most respected and loved establishments to come out of the Eastern part of Europe in recent years. As the saying goes, the proof lies in the pudding, Club Midi being a part of DJ Mag’s Top 100 clubs for quite a while now, therefore it’s not surprising that they decided to embark on a new journey with their very own label, Midi Records Romania. The first release, simply entitled “Primu’’”, sets the tone for things to come, as it uncompromisingly proposes a double 12” package featuring 4 pieces from our local heroes Mihigh, Arapu, Barac, Priku and Sepp. Disc 1 kicks off the A side with a collaboration between club resident Mihigh and Arapu. It’s the only collaboration of the record however don’t be fooled, it’s a powerful one to say the least. It’s not easy to put into words why it is so, but don’t be afraid to let yourself be hypnotised by it. The B side sees Barac do what Barac does best, make you go “woah, where did that come from?!”, although that’s the last thing you’ll be thinking of when you hear it, as it has quite a few memorable things going on inside that you’ll love it the more you listen to it. Disc 2 is the more subtle one of the pair however equally as addictive and certainly justifies why there are 2 parts to this debut release. Side C picks up the tone and mood of the first 2 side and takes it to another place entirely with eerie vocals in the forefront and a strong groove to carry it, and you, far far away, the only way Priku knows how. Finally, last but certainly not least there’s Sepp’s effort, “Nopti Tacute” to end the package on a high note. It’s the more “tamed” of the bunch but we find a great deal of charm and finesse in the loose and somewhat otherworldly pads. All together, we can certainly say it’s an impressive effort from MRR and it’s safe to assume that this is the standard to keep or surpass with the next releases, which we can’t wait to hear! Until then, keep a close eye out for “Primu’’”, which is dropping in record shops in October. (review by nightclubber)...

MTF003 (coming soon)

ourown 2.0

ourown story started about 3 years ago. we were relatively quiet, but in no way silent. we managed to add a few labels to our resume since then, we constantly focused in keeping the quality of our music high and we brought forward a few upandcoming artists who deserve your full attention, now and in the future. that being said, we believe there is much more we can do, in fact we strongly feel that the premises for a fresh start have been set. new artists will join the roster, new labels will be born, an exclusive podcast will be launched and not least our shop will gain transparency. and that’s not all. so in the light of these events we decided it is time to grow up, move on and improve our game with a new hub for all these mentioned above. to celebrate the launch of our new site we felt it is mandatory to throw an epic party with some of our beloved djs and live acts (only one actually:) located close to Bucharest, the Baneasa forest is the place we chose for this inaugural event. Surrounded by trees shaped and mapped by Cote’s imagination our own launch party will feature sounds coming from our heroes Rhadoo, Raresh, Praslea, Kozo, Priku, Emi & SIT live....
